A Gimmio alternative is worth considering when a small team wants the same signature everywhere but would rather not pay for a capped number of signatures every month, or when you want your staff details to live on a site you control. The Gimmio alternative question is closer than most. Gimmio is an inexpensive hosted generator, and emailfooter, which we make, is a free plugin. Both ask each person to install their own signature.
We make emailfooter, so read this Gimmio alternative comparison as coming from one side. We opened gimm.io’s home page, its email signature generator page, its features page and its pricing page on 5 October 2026. The pricing page works with a headcount slider, so we moved the slider to several positions and wrote down what it showed. Every statement about Gimmio below comes from those pages.
Gimmio alternative: the short version
- Gimmio, per its pages: a hosted signature generator with a free version that stores one signature, and paid packages priced by how many signatures your account stores.
- Example from its pricing page: a 10-signature package showed $10 a month, or $70 a year.
- Pick Gimmio if you want a cheap hosted tool, bulk import of staff details and a lot of control over fonts and spacing.
- Pick emailfooter if you want no signature cap, no licence fee and your data on your own WordPress site, and you are happy to run it or buy Managed.
What Gimmio is, from its own pages
The gimm.io home page calls the company an “Intelligent Brand Management Platform”. The product you can use there is the Email Signature Generator, and the other product tiles on the page are marked “Coming Soon”. The generator page is titled as a free generator with more than 55 templates.
On its generator and features pages, Gimmio describes more than 1000 fonts, many social icon variations, spacing or borders on any field, and as many images, social icons and banners as you like. It says its signatures are tested with 55 email clients, and lists names such as Microsoft Outlook, Apple Mail, Gmail, Office 365, Outlook.com and Thunderbird.
For several people at once, the pricing page lists features that every plan includes:
- grouped signatures, so you can update many in one step
- distributing multiple signatures at once, where staff can update and review their own details before installing their signature
- bulk import of staff information from CSV and similar formats
- saved custom layouts, for example for a promotion, which you can apply to groups
- advanced layout customisation
The features page adds that agencies can use a white-labelled, unbranded site with their own logo and style, on its agency plans.
Gimmio pricing, read in October 2026
On the Gimmio pricing page, a slider asks how many people in your organisation need email signatures. It then shows a package, a number of stored signatures and a price, with a switch between Billed Monthly and Billed Yearly. There is also a Business and Agency switch. We read the Business view. Prices are in US dollars.
| Slider position | Signatures the account stores | Billed monthly | Billed yearly |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 person | 1 | $4 | $28 |
| 2 or 3 people | 3 | $5 | $35 |
| 5 people | 5 | $7 | $49 |
| 7 or 10 people | 10 | $10 | $70 |
| 60 people | 75 | $40 | $280 |
| 200 people | 250 | $60 | $420 |
| 1000 people | 1000 | $90 | $630 |
We recorded those positions only. The slider has other positions between them, so use the page for a figure that fits your headcount before you price a Gimmio alternative against it.
Other facts from the same pages. The FAQ says you can use a free version, but that creating completely custom signatures and getting the premium features needs a subscription or a single-signature purchase. The generator page, opened without logging in, showed “Your signatures (0 of 1)” with a prompt to sign up to create more. The FAQ says the free trial gives access to all premium features and that your card is charged after the trial ends. The home page says full access is provided for the first 7 days with no financial commitment. You can cancel from your dashboard, and annual billing is discounted.
What a Gimmio alternative changes
Gimmio sizes its packages by how many signatures the account stores. That is simple, and it is cheap at small sizes. It also means the number you pay for rises as the team grows, and the account stops storing signatures beyond its package.
A Gimmio alternative that is free to use changes the shape of that cost. emailfooter has no cap on companies or employees and no paid tiers in the plugin. What you pay for is your own hosting, domain and email delivery, which for many companies already exist. If you do not have a site, emailfooter Managed hosts the same software for you and is priced on request, so we cannot give you a figure.
For a very small team with no WordPress site, Gimmio’s $70 a year for ten signatures may well beat the cost of setting up hosting. The saving from a free plugin only appears when the hosting already exists or the team is larger.
Is emailfooter a good Gimmio alternative for a small team?
emailfooter comes from Ulrea. It is licensed under the GPL and sits on your WordPress site as a plugin. The admin chooses one of ten layouts and one of 24 colour themes, or writes a custom HTML template with merge tags. Invitation links last seven days; whoever follows one edits only their own details, checks a live preview in light and dark, and copies the signature as a rich signature, HTML or plain text. Steps are written for 16 mail apps.
A legal footer can be added under every signature, and the admin can fix which phone number is shown. The dashboard breaks copies and installs down by day, by mail app and by person.

Where Gimmio is the better choice
This Gimmio alternative is not right for everyone. Gimmio is stronger if:
- You want the lowest cost for a tiny team and have no site. Nothing to host, and a price per month or year you can read off the page.
- You want fine control over the look. Its pages describe a long font list, spacing and borders on any field, and unlimited images and banners. emailfooter gives you ten layouts, 24 themes, font and size choices and a custom HTML editor, which is less open-ended.
- You have a spreadsheet of staff. Gimmio lists bulk import from CSV and similar files. emailfooter invites people with links and does not list a spreadsheet import.
- You are a design agency. Gimmio describes sharing designs with customers, adjusting them in real time and a white-labelled site on agency plans.
- You want swappable layouts for promotions. Saved custom layouts let you add a sales banner and go back afterwards.
- You want a single signature, once. The FAQ says you can buy one without a subscription.
Where emailfooter is the better Gimmio alternative
- No signature cap. There is no number of stored signatures to outgrow.
- No licence fee. Cost scales with your hosting, not with headcount.
- One look for everyone. The admin owns the layout, colours, logo and legal footer; staff fill in their own details and nothing else.
- Your data stays with you. Names, titles and numbers are stored in your own WordPress install.
- Agencies who want to host. As a Gimmio alternative for agencies, Agency mode adds client companies and your own branding, with no licence fee. It is one brand per install.
The trade-offs of this Gimmio alternative are plain. emailfooter is English only for now, has no click analytics and does not push signatures into mailboxes. It also needs WordPress. We do not know of anything on Gimmio’s pages that does push signatures into mailboxes either, and its pages describe staff installing their own signature.

Three checks before you choose a Gimmio alternative
These three questions decide whether a Gimmio alternative is worth the effort.
- Is your team under about ten people, with no WordPress site? If yes, Gimmio’s small packages are hard to beat on price, and the work of setting up hosting is not worth it.
- Do you already have WordPress hosting, or expect to grow past a few dozen people? If yes, a free plugin starts to pay for itself.
- Do you need a design with no stray fonts or edits? If yes, a locked company design is the stronger fit.
