How to add signature in Yahoo Mail: on a computer, open Yahoo Mail in a desktop browser, select the More options icon, then Settings, then Writing email. Switch the toggle on for your address and type the signature in the text box. The Yahoo Mail app has a separate signature, set under Signatures in its own settings. These steps follow Yahoo’s help pages for New Yahoo Mail, the older Yahoo Mail for desktop and the Yahoo Mail app, read in October 2026.
How to add signature in Yahoo Mail
- Desktop browser: More options icon, then Settings.
- Click Writing email.
- Use the toggle to enable the signature for the address.
- Type or edit the signature in the text box.
- The app is separate: Menu, Settings, Signatures.
How to add signature in Yahoo Mail on the web
Yahoo’s page for New Yahoo Mail lists five actions.
- Open Yahoo Mail on your desktop browser.
- Click the More options icon, then select Settings.
- Click Writing email.
- Click the toggle button to enable or disable a signature for the email address.
- Enter or edit your signature in the text box.
The page says the signature is added automatically to each outgoing email. It also says you can create individual signatures for all the mail usernames you added under your Yahoo account, regardless of the mail provider. If you manage a Gmail or Outlook address inside Yahoo Mail, that address gets its own toggle and its own text box.
Which Yahoo Mail do you have?
Yahoo keeps a second page for an older design of Yahoo Mail for desktop, and it says so at the top: the article contains information for the old version, and people who have switched to New Yahoo Mail should use the new help section. The old page’s route differs slightly. It says to click the Settings Menu icon and select More Settings, then click Writing email, and the toggle and text box steps are the same as above.
If your screen shows a Settings Menu icon leading to More Settings, you are probably on the older design. If you see a More options icon leading to Settings, follow the first list. When in doubt, go to the page whose first menu names match your own screen.
How to add signature in Yahoo Mail on the app
Yahoo’s app page makes a point that catches many people out: email signatures in the Yahoo Mail app are different from the ones saved on your desktop computer. You can create a new signature for the app or redo the one you already have on your computer.
iPhone and iPad (iOS). Yahoo lists these actions:
- Tap the Menu icon.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Signatures under general.
- Tap the toggle button to enable or disable the signature.
- Tap below each username.
- Enter or edit your signature.
- Tap the back arrow at the top left to save and return to the account screen.
Android, one signature for all accounts. The first three taps are the same as above (Menu, Settings, Signatures under general). Then toggle on Include signature in new messages, tap below to enter or edit your signature, and tap the back arrow to save.
Android, a different signature for each account. Toggle on Customize for each account, tap the account, toggle on Include signature in new messages, tap below to enter or edit the signature, and tap the back arrow to save.
How to add signature in Yahoo Mail: web and app side by side
| Desktop browser | Yahoo Mail app | |
|---|---|---|
| Where | More options, Settings, Writing email | Menu, Settings, Signatures |
| Switch | Toggle button for the email address | Toggle button (iOS); Include signature in new messages (Android) |
| Per account | Individual signature per mail username | Per username (iOS); Customize for each account (Android) |
| Saved how | The page lists no save step | Tap the back arrow |
| Shared with the other? | No: the app page says they are different | No |
The “Saved how” row deserves a second look. Yahoo’s web page ends at “enter or edit your signature in the text box” and mentions no Save button. If your screen shows one, press it.
What Yahoo’s pages do not say
Knowing the gaps saves you from copying a design that Yahoo will not accept. Across the three pages we read, none states:
- a character or length limit;
- whether you can bold, italicise, colour, link or add pictures to a signature;
- whether the signature appears on replies and forwards (the Android wording is “in new messages”);
- how to delete a signature, beyond the toggle that disables it;
- how many signatures one address can have.
The honest conclusion is to write for the plainest case. Name, role, company and one number work in a text box of any kind. If you want a designed layout with a logo, build it elsewhere and test whether Yahoo’s box keeps it. Plain text email signatures has ten text-only examples that need nothing from the mail app.
Here is a designed signature of the kind you could make in a signature tool. Whether Yahoo’s box keeps its picture is exactly the sort of thing the pages leave open:

Example only. The company and person are made up. Test a design like this in Yahoo Mail before you rely on it; the help pages do not say what the text box accepts.
How to add signature in Yahoo Mail as plain text
If you choose plain text, this order works on a phone and a computer: your name on line one, your role and company on line two, and one phone number and a website on line three. Leave out long legal paragraphs. For the app, where you type with a thumb, shorter is kinder. Mobile email signature compares what other phone apps allow.
When the Yahoo signature does not show
Check these in order.
- The toggle. Both the web and the app steps start with a toggle. If it is off for that address, nothing is added.
- The wrong address. Yahoo’s page says signatures are per mail username, so a signature on your Yahoo address does not cover a Gmail address added to the same Yahoo Mail.
- Web versus app. A signature typed on the computer does not appear on mail sent from the app, and the reverse. Set both.
- Android only: new messages. The wording on the Android toggle is Include signature in new messages. Yahoo’s page does not say whether replies get one, so send yourself a test reply.
- The older design. If the menu names do not match, use the other web page.

How to add signature in Yahoo Mail for a whole team
Every Yahoo user in a company repeats these steps on their own account, on the web and again on their phone. Nothing on Yahoo’s pages lets an administrator fill the box for them. emailfooter is a free WordPress plugin that holds one signature design for the whole company and gives each employee numbered steps for their mail app. It does not push signatures into mailboxes, so each person still pastes theirs in, and it is English-only for now. A shared text version keeps how to add signature in Yahoo Mail down to a short, repeatable routine.
